I'm living at the studio these days. Realizing how ambitious we're being right now when I list it all out.
1. Track a full length album
2. Learn and rehearse all the new songs from the album
3. Prepare for our Tour
4. Shoot a music video
5. Redesign and order merch
6. Work with our lighting techs to design the set for the tour
7. Audition and onboard the second guitar player
8. Continue playing a show every other week
9. Choreograph the tour set
10. and uh... work a full time job
Pretty nuts but we seem to be pulling it all together.,, just have to pretty much live in the studio and constantly be on email.
Aside from that, this is the weekend of Gayle's wedding, in which I am a bridesmaid for the first time. This means:
1. Picking up my dress from alterations
2. Putting together a slideshow for the reherasal dinner
3. Mani/Pedis and bachelorette sleepover girlie type things
4. Finalizing the wedding gift.
5. and uh... the actual wedding.
Busy week but as long as I have 2-3 episodes of Six Feet Under and a bottle of wine at the end of the day, I'll keep my sanity.
clearly, I'm losing my edge if a blog post is full of lists. i am kari's left brain and i'll be handling things for the next few days. if you'd like to leave a message for kari's right brain, please be advised she will only be available tuesdays and thursdays from 7-9.
le sigh...

Work boredom spawns blog revival
It wouldn't be ridiculous to call it a day. It's 5:22 on a Tuesday. Everything is done for the day. But I have practice in about an hour. And that would leave just enough time to walk home, get settled and have to leave again, so I decided to create a new blog instead.
Home is feeling lovely these days. In the middle of a project binge. In my attempts to "live in a closet" my bedroom now resembles a boutique with a bed in the middle. a giant 8 foot mirror, my hand-made dresser, shoe shelving sprawling across a wall, stenciled black flowers on the wall, my chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Is very boutique chic.
Downstairs is still a work-in-progress but I finished the "library" which means i surrounded my recliner with bookshelves and reading lights and a little side table for tea. This weekend I'll hopefully get around to reupolstering the chair with the amazing tiffany blue fabric I found.
It feels good to finally have more bookshelf space than books. All my lovely forgotten books have now been rescued from their amazon fresh totes in the back of my closet.
Much work to be done. but much work behind me.
5:30. a perfectly respectable quitting time.
can't wait for band tonight. finally got my custom in ear monitors from westone. They're hot pink and beautiful. They feel so weird to have in. They go pretty far in and rest just outside my ear drum. Feels kinda bizarre but they completely isolate sound and no matter how hard i tried, i couldn't shake them out when I was dancin around the house last night.
Next show is in 2 weeks. Cant' wait to see how they change my performance.
Okay I made it to 5:35. Think I'll go get beer for the studio and start warming up. Tracking a really challenging vocal part tonight and need it to be epically perfect.
xo!
